“Pft. Green tieflings. Everyone knows tieflings are red because they reflect light from the sun.” -Kurokami, Warlock of the Edge Lord
Another comic inspired by our campaign! As a DM, I commonly rely on what I call the Baconator Rule. It essentially states that anything is possible because of magic. My villains can do things like animate the moon or open portals into the center of the earth. My players should be allowed to bend the rules a bit and have their tiefling be green. It has been a healthy trade-off.
Do you guys have any setting or game rules you regularly bend? I almost always ignore any rules on aesthetics and allow my players to reskin almost anything.

I have one player at my table who always asks me how my npcs can use magic in ways that aren’t in the player’s handbook.
I always have to tell him that those are just a list of the common and we’ll known spells, but not all the spells in the world… I tell him this every time.
Yeah, imagine how predictable the game would be if the only magic that existed was the spells listed out in the PHB! There would never be any fun surprises!
