“She even let me keep the cursed ring!” -Calabasas the Druid
Another comic inspired by our campaign. I always make it clear to my players that death isn’t the end of their story. If they show interest in playing a character who has died, I go out of my way to help make it happen. With that said, consequences are important! I’ve started hitting my players with wounds and other penalties when they begin to abuse the system. This helped reinforce the stakes in our combat encounters and has created more personal character motivations!
I’ve tested side quests, wounds, experience penalties, and gold costs as a consequence for death. They all seem to fit a different type of game. Has anyone come up with a fun homebrew mechanic for death penalties?
